Apple ID Account Login & Usage FAQ

Many users encounter issues such as login, verification, region cache, account suspension, and paid app downloads when using overseas Apple IDs. This guide compiles common issues and their solutions to help you quickly troubleshoot and use your account smoothly.

Important Reminder: If you only need to download apps, it is recommended to log in with the purchased Apple ID only in the App Store. It is not recommended to log in directly via your phone's [Settings] - [iCloud]. If you must log in via Settings, be sure to turn off "Find My / Activation Lock" immediately to avoid the risk of device lock.

1. Login prompts "Two-Factor Authentication", need to bind a phone number?

Issue Description: Starting around September 2022, some Apple IDs prompt you to bind a phone number or upgrade to two-factor authentication after login. Simply entering your account and password may trigger this prompt.

Solution: If you are willing to bind your own phone number, click "Continue" and proceed. Binding a phone number can help reduce security risk flags. If you prefer not to bind it for now, select "Other Options""Don't Upgrade" to skip this step.

2. How to log in to the App Store with an overseas ID?

Issue Description: Logging into the App Store and logging into your phone's [Settings] - [iCloud] are two different locations. If you only need to download overseas apps, please log in via the App Store, not your phone settings.

How to Do It: Open the App Store → Tap the profile icon in the top right corner → Scroll to the very bottom → Sign out of the current ID → Sign in with the purchased Apple ID → Search for the desired app and download it.

3. After logging in with an overseas ID, can't find overseas apps, interface still in Chinese?

Issue Description: After changing Apple IDs, the App Store may have a cache issue. Even though you appear to be logged in with an overseas ID, the interface may still show Chinese, and you may not be able to find overseas apps.

Solution: Close the App Store from the app switcher and reopen it, or simply restart your device. After refreshing, the App Store will switch to the region interface corresponding to the current Apple ID, allowing you to search for and download apps from that region normally.

4. How to change Apple ID password, security questions, and other details?

Issue Description: Changing your password, security questions, birthday, email, and other details is a crucial security step after obtaining a private account.

Suggestion: After logging into your purchased account, try to change your details in batches. For example, change your password today and your security questions tomorrow. It is not recommended to change all details in a short period.

5. Login prompts "Unable to Sign In", "Could not sign in", or stuck on loading?

Issue Description: Domestic network connections to Apple's overseas servers can sometimes be unstable, leading to login failures, persistent loading, or "Could not sign in" prompts. This issue is more common on recently restored iPhones or those without a SIM card inserted.

How to Check: Try logging in via the Apple ID website on a computer or browser. If you can log in there, the account itself is usually fine.

  • If you don't have a SIM card inserted, try inserting one before attempting to log in.
  • Try toggling Airplane Mode on and off, then log in again.
  • If you have a proxy or VPN enabled, try disabling it and retrying.
  • Close the App Store from the app switcher, restart your device, and try again.
  • Switch networks, e.g., from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or connect to someone else's mobile hotspot.

6. Prompted "Your account has been disabled in the App Store and iTunes"?

Issue Description: When updating an app, the Apple ID used for the download must match the Apple ID currently logged in for the update. If the app was downloaded with a different ID, you may see a prompt that the account is disabled or cannot update.

Solution:

  1. Log in with the original Apple ID that downloaded the app, then perform the update.
  2. If using the original ID is inconvenient, delete the old app and re-download it using the purchased ID.
  3. If it's a paid app, confirm that the new account has actually purchased that paid app.

7. Login prompts "Incorrect username or password"?

Issue Description: IDs that have not enabled iCloud login cannot be logged into via your phone's [Settings] - [iCloud]. Forcing a login in Settings may result in a password error prompt.

Correct Method: Unless necessary, only use the purchased Apple ID in the App Store. If you must log in via Settings, be sure to turn off "Find My / Activation Lock" first.

If you get a username or password error prompt while logging into the App Store, carefully double-check the account and password. It is recommended to copy and paste the username and password one by one to avoid manual input errors, extra spaces, or case sensitivity issues.

8. Displayed "This Apple ID is invalid or not supported"?

Possible Causes:

  • The account was entered incorrectly, causing the system to recognize it as an invalid Apple ID.
  • The account's email was changed previously, and the old email is no longer a valid Apple ID.

Solution: Please verify the latest account email from your order information. Ensure you haven't copied extra spaces, missed letters, or used an old email to log in.

9. Private ID has purchased paid apps, but they still show a price after logging in?

Issue Description: If you purchased a private ID that includes paid apps (e.g., an account that has already purchased Shadowrocket), and the app still shows a price after logging in, it is usually due to a device or store cache not refreshing.

Solution: You can directly click the price to download. If the account has indeed purchased the app, it generally will not charge you again. If clicking it asks for US region payment info or fails to download, please contact customer service promptly.

10. Prompted "ID not activated or disabled"?

Issue Description: An Apple ID being not activated or disabled is commonly caused by long periods of inactivity, switching between multiple devices, sharing with others, frequent logins, unusual environments, or system security measures. The final interpretation of Apple ID status belongs to Apple Inc.

Solution: You can contact Apple online support via the official website or call the Apple customer service hotline: 400 666 8800 to request verification and removal of the restriction.

11. Prompted "Stolen Device Protection" enabled when modifying info on the official website?

Issue Description: If you have logged into your Apple ID on your phone, your phone may have "Stolen Device Protection" enabled by default. This feature can block certain account information modification operations that might be considered insecure.

Solution: Search for "Stolen Device Protection" in your phone's [Settings], enter the menu, and turn off this feature. Then, go to the Apple website to modify your account details.
